ADDITIONAL RACE INFO & SPECIFIC RULES
Supplements and supercedes the General Rules and Regulations found on the SACA
website
i) HOW IT WORKS
For example: For the Open Category where the race distance/duration is 50mins
+ 3 laps, the Men will ride for 50mins and there are a total of 3 Intermediate
Sprints, at every 15min intervals i.e. at 15mins after the start, 30mins after
the start and 45mins after the start.
The bell will be rung to signal the end of each 15min interval and each Intermediate
Sprint will be contested the next time the riders cross the start/finish line.
After the final Intermediate Sprint and when 50mins are up, a bell will be rung
and a lap board will be shown, to indicate that there are 3 laps to go. There
will be one Final Sprint at the finish.
Points are scored for each Intermediate Sprint and at the Final Sprint based
on the following:
Intermediate Sprint
1st - 5 points
2nd - 3 points
3rd - 1 point
Final Sprint
1st - 10 points
2nd - 8 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 5 points
5th - 4 points
6th - 3 points
7th - 2 points
8th - 1 point
ii) REPAIRS AND FREE LAPS
In the event that any rider encounters a mechanical problem, he/she is allowed
to perform repairs on the bicycle. The repairs are to be done in a designated
area (see diagram) only.
No outside assistance is allowed.
However, if in the case of a damaged wheel or punctured tire, you are allowed
to replace the wheel with another one, which has to be placed at the designated
area.
An official may be stationed at that location to ensure strict compliance.
Contravention of these regulations will result in disqualification.
The rider is given 2 free laps and if he/she joins the race anytime within these
2 free laps, he/she is still in the race. However, if he/she fails to join the
race within the 2 free laps, then he/she is automatically disqualified from
the race and will not be classified
Scenario 1
If the rider is the lead rider when the mechanical problem
occurs, the 2 free laps will begin immediately i.e. when the new lead rider
comes round again, there will only be 1 free lap left.
Scenario 2
If the rider is not the lead rider when the mechanical problem
occurs, the 2 laps will only begin the next time the lead rider comes round.
If the mechanical problem occurs during the last 3 laps, the rider is automatically
disqualified from the race.
iii) FEEDING
No feeding will be allowed. Riders are to carry their own water bottles/feeding
bags and they are not allowed to dispose of them anytime during the race.
Any disposal will be considered as littering and dumping on the race course
and race officials shall have a right to disqualify the rider.
iv) ISSUANCE OF NUMBER TAGS
Please keep the issued number tags (pair) for the race series 2004 & state
your number on the entry form when you register for the next races.
If you have lost your number tags or failed to bring along during race day,
a S$5 replacement fee will be charged for a new one.
v) PLACEMENT OF NUMBER TAGS
Both number tags must be pinned down on all 4 sides.
One on the pocket zone of the jersey and the other in a horizontal position,
on the left side of the jersey.
Race organisers reserve the right to disqualify a rider in the following cases:
a) the number tags cannot be clearly seen by the officials
b) the number tags cannot be recorded by the stationary video cameras positioned
at the Start/Finish line
c) only one number tag is used.
vi) RIDERS WHO ARE LAPPED
A rider is considered lapped if the lead rider passes the lapped rider i.e.
the lead rider's rear bicycle wheel passes the front wheel of the lapped rider
If any rider is lapped, he/she will be disqualified from the race and will not
be classified. A lapped rider is to leave the race course immediately.
Disciplinary action may be taken against any rider due to blatant non-compliance
of this regulation
vii) CLOSURE OF RACE ROUTE
The race route will be closed and hence, off-limits to any rider. Any rider
caught practicing/warming-up on the race route after it has been closed will
be issued a warning. A subsequent contravention of this regulation will result
in disqualification.
Riders may practice/warm-up anywhere outside the race route.
Please practice/warm-up safely and be mindful of traffic conditions at all times.
viii) ROLL CALL
A roll call will be done 15mins before the start of each race
and any rider not present during the roll call will be disqualified from the
race.
There will be ample announcements before the roll call so please stay alert
