New Junior
Categories in 2004
Junior C- 14
yrs and under (lower secondary, 7th - 8th grade)
Junior B- 15
to 17 (upper secondary, 9th - 10th grade)
Junior A- 17
to 19 (junior college (JC), polytechnic (Poly), centralised institutes, 11th - 12th
grade)
Note:
1.
Participants will be categorized strictly by age and the description in brackets
are for references only, except in the following special cases
:-
(a) A
participant of a younger age group can choose to participate in an older age
group (e.g. a 14 year old can take part in Junior B or A; an 18 year old can
take part in Sport category).
(b) A 17 year
old who is in Sec 5 can choose to participate in Junior B or
A.
(c) A 17 year old who is in a JC / Poly must take part in
Junior A only.
(d) All JC /
Poly students up to 19 years old can choose to participate in Junior A , Sport or Open categories. The age limit is 19 years old
as some Institutes conduct 3-year courses.
(e) All JC /
Poly / university / other tertiary students above the age of 19 years old can
choose to participate in either the Sport or Open category.
2. Each
Junior category participant will be awarded points for each individual Junior category for the Overall Group Classification 2004
(e.g. Rider X is 14 years old and takes part in the Junior C category in race 1.
In race 2, he decides to take part in the Junior B category. Any points awarded
to him while he was a Junior C participant cannot be transferred to his Junior B
category points. Rider X cannot sign up for 2 junior categories at the same time
for each race. He can however take part in both a
Junior race and any Sport / Open category race if the start and finish timings
do not clash. He must however pay for two separate entry fees for each
event.
Upgrading of
Top 3 Men's Sport Category Riders 2003 to Men’s Open category
2004
Riders who
have obtained top 3 placings in the Overall Group
Classification 2003 for the Men's Sports Category will be upgraded to the Men’s
Open category with effect from January 2004, except that riders above the age of
35 years old who are upgraded may still take part in their respective Men's
Junior Veteran or Senior Veteran category.
